Planning for the “Hassall Tahiti Rendezvous” on 4th March 2027 is well underway.
The reasons (raisons d’être) for this trip are:-
- Have a Hassall meal/soiree/get together on Thursday 4th March 2027.
- Celebrate Tahiti’s National Public Holiday on Friday 5th March 2027. This public holiday “Missionary Day” commemorates the arrival of our ancestors Rowland and Elizabeth Hassall (and other missionaries) in Tahiti on 5th March 1797. Learn more about our ancestors’ time in Tahiti.
- Visit monuments commemorating our ancestors at Matavai Bay and Point Venus;
- Re-enactment of the missionaries’ first landing;
- Visit Museum of Tahiti, London Missionary Society Churches;
- Take ferry
to island of Moorea and visit other parts of Tahiti;
- Have a tropical
island holiday, black sand beaches,
- Build your own holiday/your suggestions?
Accommodation
Tahiti is quite expensive so I have downloaded the Airbnb app and will use it to book better accommodation. The Royal Tahitian Hotel costs between $AUD285 to $AUD370 per night (breakfast not included).
ACTIONS
1. Purchase your ticket to arrive before 4/3/27
2. Let me know.
3. Stir up Hassall relatives or friends to come.
Qantas or Air New Zealand are good options.
There is still time to register interest in the HFHA 230th anniversary visit to Tahiti from 1st March 2027, please send email with name and best contact to Andrew Hassall at arhassall01@gmail.com

Plans at this early stage are simply for Hassall relatives to meet on Thursday 4th March at a place and time to be agreed upon tba.
Group activities such as travelling to places together (on a minibus or similar) will be planned in January once we have an idea of the size of the group.
